Nabi: SuperSport’s Loss Tough To Swallow

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi expressed his disappointment over the 1-0 loss to SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

He argued that his team had dominated the game but failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

SuperSport’s victory avenged their 4-0 defeat to Chiefs in the Carling Knockout Round of 16 the previous weekend. This loss marked Chiefs’ second consecutive defeat in the Betway Premiership, following their loss to Mamelodi Sundowns before the previous international break.

As a result of this setback, Amakhosi have slipped to ninth place in the league table with six points from four matches.

Nabi, who was appointed during the off-season after Chiefs finished 10th last term, believes that his team’s performance was unbalanced, with the majority of their attacks coming from the right flank.

“We had issues in the first half on the left-hand side because we always attacked on the right side and on the left-hand side we didn’t do enough,” said Nabi.

“We tried to make some changes in the second half, but we want our players to learn from today that in the first half, we believed that we could have easily killed the game.

“We had control of the first 15 to 20 minutes, we were too much relax and we had easy chances that we could have scored. Sometimes they were playing like they are going to score anytime, but you need to score in order to win the game.

“It’s a tough loss to swallow, but we want this game to be a learning curve for our young players because we can’t let those kinds of things happen in the future. If you have control of the game and you are getting opportunities, you need to score.”

Chiefs will have a chance to redeem themselves when they face newly-promoted Magesi FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.
