Ncikazi: A Must-Win Mission

Orlando Pirates assistant coach says that their clash against Marumo Gallants in the Carling Black Knockout Cup final is a must-win since it’s their responsibility to do so.
The much-anticipated final will take place at Peter Mokaba Stadium this Saturday.
Despite being the favourite to win the game, Pirates have been struggling when it comes to this cup competition, having to win it only once since its existence – in the 2011/12 season.
The Soweto Giants have already won one title for the season, which is the MTN8, and they will look to add another one before the international break.
They also have a chance of winning the league as they are number one on the table since the defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, have been inconsistent since the start of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
“It’s a cup match. It’s a cup that has eluded our club in the 11 years of its existence,” said Ncikazi.
“I think we have won it once, so we want to win the match. It’s a very sophisticated approach from the opponents with inverted full-backs, false number nine, and positional rotations.
“But having said that, Pirates have got one responsibility, we are in the final to win it in front of our supporters, who will be full at the stadium. So we just want to win, we have prepared to win it,” Ncikazi added.
This match will be the last for Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi, who is set to join MLS side Chicago Fire after both clubs agreed on a deal for his move in January next year. The powerful 20-year-old defender will link up with his new team after the Africa Cup of Nations.
