Nedbank Cup Clash Between Richards Bay And Pirates Sold Out
The Nedbank Cup round of 32 match between Richards Bay and Orlando Pirates at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday afternoon (15:00) has seen a complete sell-out.
The PSL confirmed an hour before kickoff that all tickets for the match in uMlazi township had been sold. This comes as no surprise, given Pirates’ current dominance both domestically and on the continental stage.
The Buccaneers have reached the CAF Champions League quarterfinals and currently occupy second place in the Betway Premiership with 27 points, six points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with a game in hand.
Furthermore, Pirates are the reigning Nedbank Cup champions, having successfully defended their title last year against Mamelodi Sundowns. This impressive run extends to two consecutive victories, with their last Nedbank Cup round of 16 defeat occurring in the 2021/22 season against Marumo Gallants in a penalty shootout.
Since the arrival of coach Jose Riveiro two seasons ago, Pirates have maintained an unbeaten record in the Nedbank Cup.
The winners of today’s match will join Mamelodi Sundowns, Marumo Gallants, Baroka FC, Cape Town Spurs, and Durban City in the round of 16.
