Nigeria Stunned By Zimbabwe To Draw In WC Qualifiers

Nigeria’s Super Eagles failed to keep their World Cup dreams alive as they played a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in the FIFA World Cup match qualifier on Tuesday evening.
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimheni, who scored a brace in their last game on Friday against Rwanda, scored the only goal for Super Eagles, while the 23-year-old Tawanda Blessing Chirewa scored for Zimbabwe in the last minute to break the home side’s hearts.
The Super Eagles have been struggling to win games as they won only one game, drew three, and lost one game in their five games. Following today’s draw, the Super Eagles now have four draws in their group.
Nigeria remains fourth in Group C with seven points after six games played. The next two games against the Super Eagles will be in September against Rwanda and the log leaders, Bafana Bafana.
On the other hand, in the same group, Bafana Bafana solidified their top position in FIFA World Cup Group C with a 2-0 victory over Benin at the neutral venue of Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.
Second-half goals from Lyle Foster and Jayden Adams propelled Bafana Bafana to 13 points after six matches, extending their lead to three points over Rwanda, who drew with Lesotho.
