Petersen: 2025 Is Our Year
As Kaizer Chiefs is celebrating its 55th birthday this year, the goalkeeper of Amakhosi Brandon Petersen has vowed that 2025 could be a year to remember and hopes to win many games.
Amakhosi didn’t start the season very well as they have lost four after 12 league games played. Nasreddine Nabi’s side was also knocked out in the Carling Knockout by Mamelodi Sundowns last year.
However, former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Petersen said that this year Amakhosi will do very well since they are celebrating a huge number. “I think for us this year is very important to keep the ball rolling,” Peterson said.
“It’s a new year, the club is celebrating the 55 years. So, I think this year is going to be a good year for us. We need to keep the momentum going, and keep on fighting and also keep on doing well.”
On Wednesday, Kaizer Chiefs won 2-1 against Stellenbosch at FNB Stadium with Wandile Duba’s brace.
Following this victory, Petersen added this was a massive boost for them since Amakhosi lost to Cape Town City. “I think [winning that game against Stellenbosch] is a massive boost for us, especially after the results before that – we had to come out with the good results on our game against Stellenbosch,” the former Cape Town Spurs goalkeeper added.
“Going 1-0 down and seeing the hunger and determination of the guys, showing that fighting spirit and character, I think it’s always good to see that because it shows that we are good. So, I think for us now is to be consistent not only when we are 1-0 down but in all matches.”
Peterson last played in their 2-0 loss to Polokwane City in December at Peter Mokaba Stadium, with Bruce Bvuma having been preferred thereafter.
