Chippa United has re-signed Azola Matrose from Orlando Pirates.

Matrose joined Pirates in the 2022/23 season from Chippa but was immediately loaned back to his former club. Pirates recalled him at the start of the following season, but he did not make any senior appearances and instead played in the DStv Diski Challenge.

“Chippa United FC is delighted to announce the return of Azola Matrose, who has signed a three-year contract with a two-year option,” Chippa stated.

“Matrose’s return is a significant moment for our club, and he will play a crucial role in the upcoming 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.”

The 21-year-old had been linked with University of Pretoria in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Matrose has appeared in 30 matches across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
