Pirates Release Kapinga
Orlando Pirates has confirmed the departure of attacking midfielder Lesedi Kapinga, who has been unable to secure regular playing time this season.
Kapinga joined Pirates at the beginning of last season after being released by Mamelodi Sundowns.
Despite expectations of frequent appearances, Kapinga played only 13 matches in all competitions last season, providing one assist.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has reached an agreement with Lesedi Kapinga for the early release of his contract,” said Pirates in a statement.
“Both parties have agreed to amicably part ways following a meeting earlier today.
“On behalf of the extended Orlando Pirates family, we would like to thank Lesedi for his time at the Club and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Kapinga joins a list of players who have departed Pirates this season, including Vincent Pule, Thabang Monare, Fortune Makaringe, Souaibou Marou, Bongani Sam, Sphephelo Baloni (on loan to Chippa United), Kermit Erasmus, Azola Metrose, Richard Ofori, and Siiyabonga Mpontshane (deployed within the team).
