Pirates Suffer Injury Crisis Ahead Of Chippa Clash

Orlando Pirates will be without eight players when they face Chippa United in their Betway Premiership match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday night.
The club confirmed that Patrick Maswanganyi is sidelined due to an injury sustained during their victory over Cape Town City two weeks ago.
This injury forced Maswanganyi, a strong contender for the PSL Players’ Player of the Season award, to miss their recent loss to Marumo Gallants.
“Tito sustained a grade one strain in our match against Cape Town City. We will continue to monitor his situation and provide the technical team with daily updates on his progress,” Pirates stated.
Goalkeeper Sipho Chaine will also be absent against his former club, Chippa United, due to suspension.
The medical department has provided the following updates on the remaining injured players:
- Miguel Timm (Ankle): Currently undergoing on-field rehabilitation and physiotherapy sessions. He is expected to return to full training within 7-14 days.
- Thabiso Monyane (Hamstring): Has commenced field-based rehabilitation, focusing on agility, aerobic endurance, accelerations, and decelerations. He will begin high-speed running next week.
- Zakhele Lepasa (Ankle): Has started field-based training with the strength and conditioning team.
- Olisa Ndah (Shin): Has completed his rehabilitation and returned to full training. He is currently working on regaining match fitness.
- Thabiso Lebitso (Ankle): Continues to receive post-surgery treatment, attending physiotherapy sessions for acute management.
- Thabiso Sesane (Achilles): Like Lebitso, Sesane underwent a successful procedure and is currently undergoing treatment and physiotherapy for acute management.
Pirates are currently second in the Betway Premiership with 36 points from 16 matches, 18 points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played four more games.
Mamelodi Sundowns will also be in action on Wednesday, visiting Golden Arrows at Mpumalanga Stadium (19:30).
