PSL Announces Nominees For New Executive Committee

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has released a list of candidates vying for positions on the new Executive Committee. The current committee, led by Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza, will conclude its term next month.

The current Executive Committee members include Kaizer Motaung (Kaizer Chiefs), Mato Madlala (Golden Arrows, acting PSL CEO), Rejoice Simelane (Mamelodi Sundowns), Stanley Matthews (SuperSport United), John Comitis (Cape Town City), Robert Benadie (Stellenbosch FC), and Chief Thidiela (Black Leopards).

Of these, only Chief Thidiela is not included in the list of nominees for the new committee. The PSL has confirmed that AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu, Richards Bay chairman Sifiso Biyela, Marumo Gallants chair Abram Sello, TS Galaxy’s Tim Sukazi, and Polokwane’s Johnny Mogaladi are the additional candidates for the new Executive Committee.

The PSL’s official statement reads:

“The list of nominees for the upcoming election of the Executive Committee of the National Soccer League (NSL), scheduled for November 2024, has been confirmed.

Nominees for Executive Committee:

  1. Dr. Irvin Khoza (Chairman)
  2. Dr. Kaizer Motaung
  3. Ms. Mato Madlala
  4. Dr. Rejoice Simelane
  5. Dr. Abram Sello
  6. Mr. Stanley Matthews
  7. Mr. Johnny Mogaladi
  8. Mr. Sandile Zungu
  9. Mr. Robert Benadie
  10. Mr. John Comitis
  11. Mr. Tim Sukazi
  12. Mr. Sifiso Biyela”

In addition to the Executive Committee, the PSL will also elect a new chairman and acting or permanent CEO. While Dr. Khoza is expected to retain his position as chairman, the future of Mato Madlala as acting CEO remains uncertain.
