PSL Stops Paying Royal AM Grant Money

Sportswire has learned that the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has suspended monthly grant payments to Royal AM, a financially troubled club, until further notice.
According to Sportswire sources and the Ilanga newspaper in Durban, Royal AM has not received its monthly grant from the league because the team has not played any matches since the beginning of 2024. This is due to the club being placed under curatorship by the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
Because they haven’t played a match this year, the PSL has decided to withhold the R2.5 million monthly grant until Royal AM’s issues are resolved. Royal AM was placed under curatorship after the club’s president, Shauwn Mkhize, had her assets seized and frozen by SARS amid allegations that she owes the revenue service nearly R40 million.
The club informed the league of the situation and was granted permission to postpone its matches until further notice. The PSL’s rationale for suspending the grant is that the sponsor, Betway, is not receiving any exposure from the club due to the postponed games.
In an attempt to find a solution, Royal AM approached the Pretoria High Court last week, seeking to compel the curator to issue a letter of comfort to the league so they could resume playing. However, the high court rejected their application and ordered the club to pay the legal costs.
Royal AM’s Nedbank Cup round of 32 match against Milford on Saturday, which was initially postponed, has been postponed again.
PSL members are remaining tight-lipped about the matter, but Sportswire understands there is hope that Royal AM will be able to play its remaining 19 league matches and the Nedbank Cup game. This optimism stems from documentation exchanged between Royal AM and the PSL, in which the club has given assurances that it is working to secure funding and resolve its issues. This is why the PSL has only suspended their games for the time being.
Because Royal AM’s assets are frozen, player salaries for December were delayed and only paid last month. There are rumors that players have not been paid for January either, and that some have been absent from training for several days.
Royal AM, currently at the bottom of the league table after 11 games with eight points, has not played since 29 December, when they lost 3-1 to TS Galaxy.

Royal AM no loyalty to the players. My nephew is an ex player, his contract was unfairly terminated. Court ruling was in his favour to be paid out. Almost three years later Royal AM refuse to settle. He could not play for other teams they ruined his soccer career. Royal AM pay out your players that won these court cases.
Royal am must just accept that they made a mistake and sell their team so that they can pay their players even though they ruined other kids careers
