Rele And Mbatha Help Pirates To Reach The Quarterfinals In Champions League

Relebohile Mofokeng and Thalente Mbatha were the scorers as Orlando Pirates reached the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League following their 2-1 victory against CR Belouizdad of Algeria at Orlando Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The first goal came in during the first half in the 20th minute, through the young attacker Mofokeng, benefiting Belouidzad goalkeeper Moustafa Zeghba push the ball into path of the youngster who scored in the empty before wheeling away to celebrate.
Pirates had to wait for the second goal in the second half through midfielder Mbatha, who scored a stunner from outside the box.
However, Belouizdad pulled one back in the 90 minutes through the vice captain Abdelraouf Benguit.
Despite that, the Buccaneers should have scored more goals as they got many chances but failed to use them efficiently.
The Buccaneers continued with their dominance in the second-half, but could not get the third.
While the victory sends the Buccaneers in the quarterfinal, Belouizdad’s journey in the Champions League has ended. Pirates moved on top, usurpassing Al Ahly on 11 points, who they are facing in the last game on Saturday in Cairo.
Both sides are through to the Last 8, and the winner on Saturday will finish on top of the group.
