Rwanda Coach Urges Chiefs To Give Ntwari Game Time Or Let Him Go

Rwanda national team coach Adel Amrouche has spoken about the situation surrounding Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, emphasizing that Amakhosi should either give him regular game time or consider releasing him.

The 26-year-old joined the Phefeni Glamour Boys during the off-season ahead of last season, signing from TS Galaxy.

Ntwari started the season as the number one goalkeeper for Amakhosi last season, but things changed in November after playing seven games in all competitions as Chiefs gave Brandon Peterson game time.

Peterson also got relegated to the bench as Amakhosi decided to field Bruce Bvuma, who played almost all games for Chiefs last season.

Despite not getting a game time at Chiefs, Ntwari remains the number one goalkeeper for the Rwanda national team, as his coach in the national team wants Amakhosi to make the right decision about him.

“I had a good discussion with Ilyes (Mzoughi), the (goalkeeper) coach of Kaizer Chiefs. I cannot interfere in the work of the coaches, but it was just communication to see how we can keep Fiacre in good shape and also at that level of competition,” Amrouche said.

“It’s not easy, and I am happy to have that collaboration with the coaches everywhere, especially with the coaches for Kaizer Chiefs.

“I’ve never heard anything negative about his club from him. He loves his club. He has very good contact with his team, and also, his teammates love him.

“I’m happy he found me in the team because I gave him all that confidence, and the team gave him all that confidence to be number one in the team.

“But I think if you don’t let him play, let him go because it’s better not to stop the quality for one person like Fiacre.”

However, the former TS Galaxy recently got a game time this season as he played his first game of the season in their loss to Stellenbosch in the Carling Knockout before the current FIFA international break.

Ntwari played the full 90 minutes and 30 minutes of extra time in that game, and also managed to keep a clean sheet, then also even saved one penalty during the penalty shootout.

The 26-year-old will now face Bafana Bafana on Tuesday evening at Mbombela Stadium in their last game of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

After this game, Ntwari will be aiming to play his first game of the CAF Confederation Cup with Amakhosi this weekend against the Congolese side AS Simba in Congo.
