SA Star Nets Brace As Club NXT Ease To Victory

South African winger Shandre Campbell scored a brace in his first start of the season to help Club NXT secure a comfortable 3-1 victory over Lierse K in the Belgian First Division B on Saturday.

The SA under-20 international doubled the lead in the 51st minute before scoring his second of the match two minutes later to complete his brace after Hugo Siquet had opened the scoring in the 25th minute.

Campbell, who joined Club NXT, the youth academy of Belgian giants Club Brugge from Tshwane-based outfit SuperSport United in July 2024, has increased his goal tally to three in two league appearances.

Overall, the Matsatsantsa academy graduate has only played 97 minutes, having been on the field for 79 minutes against Lierse K, in addition to an 18-minute cameo when he scored his first goal in August. Club NXT is currently 6th-placed on the table with 12 points from eight matches and will take on RFC Liege in an away encounter at Stade de Rocourt on 27 October.

The 19-year-old winger appears to be settling in well abroad, picking up from where he left off last season as he featured in 30 matches across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing six assists for SuperSport.

Moreover, Campbell recently won the COSAFA U20 Championship with Amajita following a 2-0 win over Zambia in the final, where he scored the opening goal in the 5th minute and was subsequently named player of the tournament with three goals.
