SA Top Analyst Unpaid For Months At Kabylie

Sportswire can reveal that South Africa’s experienced analyst, Tshepo Mahao, has gone unpaid for five months by Algerian giants JS Kabylie.

Mahao left South Africa earlier this year to work alongside former Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer, who took up a role with the Algerian side.

The South African analyst, who has also worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo, accepted the move to Algeria after leaving Durban-based AmaZulu at the end of last season, having joined the club in March.

However, the former Royal AM analyst is unhappy with his current situation at JS Kabylie due to the prolonged non-payment of his salary.

Should the situation fail to improve, Mahao is exploring the possibility of returning to South Africa.

Mahao boasts extensive experience in the PSL, having previously worked at AmaZulu, Royal AM and TS Galaxy, which he left at the end of the 2024/25 season.

At Kabylie, Mahao is serving as a performance analyst, a role that has provided him with significant exposure, particularly as the club is competing in the CAF Champions League group stages, offering him broader experience in North African football.

JS Kabylie have a rich history, having won the Algerian league title 14 times, the Coupe Nationale on five occasions, and the CAF Champions League twice. The club also famously lost to Orlando Pirates in the 1996 CAF Super Cup.

That match was played in Cape Town after Pirates had won the CAF Champions League, while Kabylie had lifted the CAF Confederation Cup in the same year.
