Sibisi Praises Team Effort And Fan Support
Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi has acknowledged his teammates’ outstanding performance in their convincing 2-0 victory over Polokwane City at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
The MTN8 quarter-final match, played at a packed Orlando Stadium, saw the defending champions secure their spot in the semi-finals.
The Buccaneers are now set to face their rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns, in a highly anticipated two-legged semi-final. This will be a repeat of the 2022/23 edition, where Pirates defeated Sundowns 3-0 on aggregate.
Sibisi, who was recently appointed skipper, praised the team’s effort and believed the win would set the tone for the upcoming season.
“Good team effort, good solid team effort, you know,” said Sibisi.
“I said it during the week that it was going to set the tone for the season. You can see the boys are hungry.”
The Bafana Bafana defender praised the supporters and emphasized how great it is to experience the fans’ support when playing at home.
“And credit to our supporters. The stadium was packed, and it gave us the energy to keep going. Beautiful football, a clean sheet, what more can we ask for?”
Sibisi added, “Credit to our fans. You know, if we can go the whole season with their support like this, I’m sure we’re going to go for something big. The atmosphere was crazy, and it’s always nice when you’re playing in your home field and you feel the support.”
The former Golden Arrows defender further urged the fans to come out in large numbers when they play at home next time.
“So we say thank you very much, can they please come in their numbers again whenever we’re playing at home?”
