Sithebe Thanks Kaizer Chiefs After Release

Departing Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has expressed his gratitude to the club for the opportunity to wear the gold and black jersey for the past two seasons.
Sithebe, along with Keagan Dolly and Sifiso Hlanti, were released by Chiefs, according to SABC.
The 31-year-old signed with Chiefs ahead of the 2022/23 season following a strained relationship with AmaZulu, who were unhappy with him signing a pre-contract with Chiefs while they were still in negotiations.
However, Sithebe only started 10 of the 11 league matches he played last season and did not participate in any cup competitions. Chiefs finished a disappointing 10th in the DStv Premiership, their worst placing in the PSL era.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank the Khosi Nation for the chance to play for the club,” Sithebe said on Facebook. “I truly appreciate it.”
“I wish them the best of luck for the upcoming season and the future.”
Despite limited playing time, Sithebe showed glimpses of his ability during his time with Chiefs especially in the second half of the campaign. He filled in admirably for Yusuf Maart in some matches, drawing praise from caretaker coach Cavin Johnson.
Given his talent, Sithebe is unlikely to have trouble finding a new club during this transfer window.
