Siwelele chairman Calvin Le John has confirmed the appointment of Willem Jackson as the club’s new assistant coach, replacing Andre Arendse.

This announcement comes alongside the immediate departure of CEO Stan Matthews due to threats against his family.

Coaching Changes and Player Transfers

Le John, who acquired the club’s status from SuperSport United, officially introduced Jackson, who is well-known for his playing career at Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars, as well as his time with Bloemfontein Celtic. “I would like to introduce our new assistant coach, the gentleman by the name of Willem Jackson,” Le John stated. “He played for this team, knows and understands the culture, and knows where we would like to take this team.”

In addition to the coaching changes, the club will also see significant player movement. Le John confirmed that a few players will be leaving the team, while five to six new players will be signed in the coming days to “strengthen this team.”

A Difficult Start to the Season

Siwelele has had a challenging start to the season, with only one win, one draw, and five losses in their first seven matches. The team currently sits third from the bottom of the table with just four points. Their most recent result was a 2-0 loss to Magesi FC at Seshego Stadium on Saturday.

Despite the poor results, Le John remains optimistic and expressed gratitude to the club’s supporters, known as Masele. “I would like to thank Masele for continuing to support this team. I would like you to thank you for continuing to buy the tickets, I would like you to thank for continuing to buy merchandise. It shows you’ve got so much belief in us.”
