Stellenbosch Secures Big Advantage Over Sekhukhune In MTN8 Semifinal

Stellenbosch FC will carry a significant advantage into the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final after a convincing 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune United at Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday.
The match began with a high-intensity press from both sides. However, it was Stellenbosch who capitalized on their chances. In the 22nd minute, Kazie Enyinnaya scored the opener with a powerful header from a corner kick.
Just 11 minutes later, Lesiba Nku set up Devin Titus on a swift counter-attack, and Titus finished clinically to give the Cape Winelands side a comfortable two-goal lead.
Despite their best efforts in the second half, Sekhukhune struggled to break down Stellenbosch’s defense and failed to create any clear-cut scoring opportunities. Stellenbosch, meanwhile, continued to threaten on the counter, with Nku missing a one-on-one chance by hitting the post.
The result continues Sekhukhune coach Eric Tinkler’s poor record against Stellenbosch, a trend that has followed him from his time at Cape Town City.
The second leg of the semi-final will take place at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium next Saturday.
