Stellenbosch Too Strong For Nsingizini In CAF

Stellenbosch FC made a promising start to their CAF Confederation Cup football journey, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory over Nsingizini Hotspurs in preliminary round first leg at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday in the first leg of the preliminary round.
With Spurs playing their first match of the season and Stellenbosch their second, the opening twenty minutes were relatively uneventful as both sides appeared to be finding their feet. Stellenbosch gradually asserted their dominance, pinning Spurs in their own half for most of the first half hour.
The breakthrough came in the 37th minute when Andre de Jong capitalized on a defensive error to give Stellenbosch the lead by sliding in. Just five minutes later, Devin Titus doubled the advantage, taking advantage of another defensive lapse.
Stellenbosch held a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime. Although Spurs showed more attacking intent in the second half, they were unable to convert their opportunities. In the 69th minute, Stellenbosch extended their lead through a Fawaz Basadien penalty, awarded after Lehlohonolo Mojela was fouled in the box.
Stellenbosch’s superior performance throughout the match was evident, and Nsingizini Hotspurs endured a disappointing continental debut. With a commanding 3-0 advantage, Stellenbosch will approach the second leg with confidence, aiming to complete the job at the same venue next weekend.
