Sundowns Brush Sibanye Aside To Advance To Nedbank Cup Last 16

Mamelodi Sundowns are through to the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup following their 5-2 victory against Sibanye Golden Stars at Loftus Stadium on Saturday evening.
Sundowns’ goals were scored by Malibongwe Khoza, Arthur Sales, and Kobamelo Kodisang while Tashreeq Matthews scored a brace.
Sibanye’s two goals were scored by Rankali Mokhantla and Boeletseng Rankali in the second half. The home side started this game on a high foot in the first half. The young player for the Brazilians Khoza scored first five minutes with a great header, while Matthews scored a brace.
The Brazilians should have scored almost more than five goals, especially in the first half as they got so many chances, but failed to use them efficiently.
The visitors didn’t have at least one shot at goal during the first half as Sundowns was in control of the game throughout.
In the second half, the visitors came very strong in the first 20 minutes, and fortunately, they got two goals. Mokhantla scored the first goal in the 55th minute, while the last goal was scored by Rankali in the 61st minute. The Brazilians pulled up their socks after 68 minutes, and fortunately, Sales scored a great goal to make it 4-2.
After Sales’ goal, the Portuguese tactician introduced the former Stellenbosch midfielder Jayden Adams to make his debut for the Brazilians.
However, Bathusi Aubaas, who got a red card against Raja Club Athletic in the group stage of the CAF Champions League, was shown another red card again for the foolish elbow.
The Brazilians strolled as they scored through Kodisang who received a deflected ball from Sibanye players.
The Tshwane giant, who lost the final last season to Orlando Pirates, became the sixth team to reach the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup, joining Marumo Gallants, Chippa United, Cape Town Spurs, Baroka, and Durban City.
