The Natural Consequence Of Removing Minimums In Football

These Nedbank Cup ‘surprise’ results are not surprising for me and some of us, argued former Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Zipho Dlangalala.

No one/very few listen when we talk about this. While results are positive, people think it’s all hunky-dory.

For as long as this thinking of  “it doesn’t matter how you play, as long as you win” prevails, these kinds of results will remain a possibility.

It is not unnatural to get any kind of outcome when and where quality, merit, and reason are irrelevant.

When you create chaos, you get chaos.

One example was last May, when people said, “We want the Cup, no matter how”.

Now this ‘no matter how’ is being delivered (as chickens are coming home to roost), and still some people want to blame others.

“Football can be played in a bad way or in a good way,” Thabo Dladla once said.

In South Africa, it seems we have eliminated the difference between the two, and are reaping the RESULTS.

“Those who can see beyond the shadows and lies of their culture will never be understood, let alone believed, by the masses,” Aristocles (Plato).
