Three More Players Leave AmaZulu

Sportswire has been informed that former Orlando Pirates defender Kwanda Mngonyama, ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele, and Mbongeni Gumede are the latest players to have departed AmaZulu.

This publication has also learned that Ethan Brooks might be another player to leave the club, as his situation is currently 50/50.

Hendrick Ekstein, who started this season well, sent a cryptic message on his social media on Friday, stating, “I will forever be grateful,” along with a heart sign. This might suggests he has also left the club.

There are also reports that Tshepang Moremi, who was one of Usuthu’s best players last season, is wanted by Orlando Pirates, indicating further player exits.

Since the season ended, it has been a busy period for Usuthu, with close to 10 players having been shown the door, despite the club finishing in the top eight.

Last season, coach Arthur Zwane frequently lamented the team’s lack of finishing in attack and was also displeased with the significant defensive errors committed by his players. It was clear, heading into the new season, that many changes were expected to tighten things up regarding Usuthu’s squad make-up, especially after the club committed to Zwane remaining as coach for the upcoming season.

As Gumede, Mphahlele, and Mngonyama all leave, they follow Thembela Sikhakhane, Wayde Jooste, Veli Mothwa, Rowan Human, Abbubaker Mobara, and Boniface Haba out the door.

This website reported on Friday that Usuthu have signed Richards Bay defender Keagan Allan to bolster their defensive line ahead of next season. Sportswire has also learned that Usuthu are close to finalizing a deal for Chippa United goalkeeper Darren Johnson, who is part of the Bafana Bafana COSAFA Cup squad in Bloemfontein. That squad has reached the final and will play Angola at Toyota Stadium on Sunday.

Notably, Kwanda Mngonyama is part of that Bafana Bafana side; he was named skipper and played a vital role in their 3-1 semi-final victory over Comoros at the same venue on Saturday.
