Three PSL Clubs Eye Cameroon International

Cameroon international goalkeeper Junior Dande looks set for a move to the Betway Premiership next season, as he has attracted significant interest from several South African top-flight teams, Sportswire has been informed.
The 27-year-old shot-stopper is currently in the books of struggling Congolese Linafoot Ligue 1 giants, AS Vita Club, who, alongside Azam FC, have been linked to unattached coach Florent Ibenge after the experienced mentor parted ways with Sudanese powerhouse Al Hilal Omdurman.
Dande’s contract with the Kinshasa-based outfit is set to expire at the end of the month, having signed a three-year deal with Apejes FC of Cameroon in September 2022. The Cameroonian is understood to be open to a new challenge.
Fellow Linafoot juggernaut TP Mazembe made contact with the player’s entourage, but this publication understands that PSL clubs Marumo Gallants and Sekhukhune United have entered the race to acquire Dande’s services on a free transfer.
With an ageing goalkeeping department, the Bloemfontein-based outfit is primed to rejuvenate the squad in between the sticks as Daniel Akpeyi and Washington Arubi are in their late 30s, while Kagiso Mlambo is 35 years old – 10 years older than Kopano Thuntsane.
On the other hand, Babina Noko faces the same conundrum as Badra Ali Sangare and Lloyd Kazapua are 39 and 36 years old, respectively. Meanwhile, Renaldo Leaner, who recently made his Bafana Bafana debut, has been heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
Newly promoted Durban City are also said to be monitoring Dande’s situation closely, with the KZN outfit lacking an outright number one goalkeeper as Dumisani Msibi and Ayanda Mtshali were constantly in and out of the starting XI en route to clinching the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
It remains to be seen whether the AS Vita goalkeeper will remain in Central Africa with TP Mazembe or find the prospect of plying his trade in the Betway Premiership appealing, with suitors keen to lure him to South Africa.
