‘We Know Their Weaknesses’: Monyane Sends Bold Warning To Sundowns

Kaizer Chiefs defender Thabiso Monyane is confident Amakhosi can hurt Mamelodi Sundowns and maintain their strong start to the season when the two sides meet at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Amakhosi will host the African champions in a highly anticipated Betway Premiership clash, with both teams looking to make an early statement in the league campaign.
Chiefs head into the encounter full of confidence after winning both of their opening league matches this season. The victories have moved them to the top of the Betway Premiership standings as the only team currently on six points.
Sundowns, meanwhile, have played just one league match so far this season, securing a victory over TS Galaxy. Their opening fixture against Marumo Gallants, which was scheduled for two weeks ago, was postponed, meaning Saturday’s encounter will be only their second league game of the campaign.
Monyane believes Chiefs have learned valuable lessons from their meetings with Sundowns last season, when neither side managed to claim bragging rights.
“Yeah, look, I mean, coming into this game from last season, we drew with them twice,” he said.
“All I can say is that there has been improvement. We know their strengths, we know their weaknesses, and we’ll look to capitalise on that.”
The two teams played to a goalless draw in the first round at FNB Stadium before sharing the spoils again in the second round, with Sundowns and Chiefs drawing 1-1 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
As a result, both teams will be determined to end that run of stalemates when they meet again, with Chiefs hoping their strong start to the season can give them another boost against the defending champions.
The 26-year-old defender also called on the Amakhosi faithful to turn out in large numbers for what promises to be one of the biggest clashes of the early Betway Premiership campaign.
“Yeah, I mean, it’s a very interesting game, a really epic clash,” he added.
“I urge the Kaizer Chiefs supporters to come out in their numbers and support us because they really mean a lot to us.
“They push us and give us that match-winning spirit. So, we want them to come out in numbers and support us.”
