Xoki Determined To Regain Spot, To Return Before The Year End

Orlando Pirates defender Thapelo Xoki has revealed his determination to reclaim his starting spot in the team following the impressive performances of Thabiso Sesane.
Sesane has been a standout performer since the start of the season and is likely to partner with Olisa Ndah in defense for the MTN8 final against Stellenbosch at the sold-out Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The young defender’s strong displays have earned him a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo.
“It is always a case at Pirates, the competition is rife and stiff,” Xoki stated as he was at the Adidas store in West Street, Durban with Zakhele Lepasa, Bandile Shandu, Goodman Mosele, and Thabiso Lebotso.
“That is good for the club, which has helped us in the last three seasons to compete in all the cups. All the cups that we have won it is because of the competition in the club.
“Everyone knows that once you are outside, you have to double your effort, you have to push all the way and support the guys who are playing.
“It’s a long season, there is a lot of competitions to play and every one of us will get their chance.
“But for now, we have to support the guys who are playing and give our best at training and make sure that we push them as well in their preparations.”

In addition to Sesane and Ndah, Pirates can also rely on Nkosinathi Sibisi and Innocent Maela, the club’s captain.
Xoki, who is the club’s vice-captain, has been sidelined this season due to an injury but expressed optimism about his return. “I’ve completed a successful rehab with the medical team, and they’re pleased with my progress,” said the former AmaZulu captain. “I hope to be back in action by the end of this year. For now, I’ll continue to follow the rehabilitation process and do what I need to do.”
