Nabi: Chiefs Drought Is Unacceptable
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi says he will do his utmost to reward the club with a successful season in the upcoming campaign.
Nabi addressed the media for the first time on Thursday following the team’s return from a pre-season camp in Turkey.
The team will face Young Africans in a friendly Toyota Cup match at Free State Stadium on Saturday at 3 pm. Chiefs also unveiled their new kit to the media and few supporters at Naturena on Thursday.
However, Nabi takes over a side that has endured a trophy drought since 2015, with their last cup final appearance being the 2019 Nedbank Cup loss.
“I will do my best to please and reward the fans with a great season this year,” Nabi said through a translator.
The former FAR Rabat coach, who narrowly missed out on the Moroccan league title last season, believes the club’s stature demands more.
“It is definitely not acceptable for a club of Kaizer Chiefs’ size to go this long without a title,” Nabi stated. “Especially considering the club has the largest fanbase and is the biggest brand in South Africa, and indeed, Africa.”
