Sundowns Makes Move To Secure Lunga’s Future

Mamelodi Sundowns have offered Zimbabwean international defender Divine Lunga a new contract ahead of next season.

Lunga’s current contract was set to expire at the end of the season, but the Brazilians have moved to secure his services for the long term.

The 29-year-old left-back has been an integral part of Sundowns’ success, helping the team win the league title, reach the Nedbank Cup final, and make a remarkable run to the CAF Champions League semifinals in 2024.

This season, he continued to shine, contributing to Sundowns’ league title win and their march to the Carling Knockout final and the Champions League final.

Lunga joined Sundowns from Golden Arrows in 2021 but was loaned back to Arrows in 2022.

He returned to Sundowns in January 2024 and has since become a vital member of the team.

The Zimbabwean international has established himself as a key player in the Sundowns squad, and his new contract offer is a testament to his hard work and dedication.

The terms of the new contract are undisclosed, according to Sportswire’s sources.

Lunga has featured in 42 matches and has scored one goal with one assist for Sundowns.

Sundowns currently have a strong contingent of left-back players, including Terrence Mashego, Aubrey Modiba, whose contract is set to end this season, Asekho Tiwani, Sifiso Ngobeni, who is on loan at AmaZulu, and Lunga.

  • Thanks to Downs technical team for Lunga contract extension the boy is a gem … please next season give him more game time and play Modiba more attacking role.
