Webber Scores To Maintain Fine Form

South African midfielder Jamie Webber found the back of the net to continue his fine form as FC Tulsa claimed a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Las Vegas Lights FC in the USL Championship on Sunday morning.

The former Sekhukhune United player scored the second goal to make it 2-1 as he restored the lead for his side in a thrilling seven-goal thriller in the second tier of American football at ONEOK Field, Oklahoma.

Having opened his account in the USL Jägermeister Cup a week before, Webber took his tally to two goals and one assist provided in 11 appearances across all competitions since joining Tulsa from Babina Noko in April 2025 on a deal that runs until November 2025.

The dynamic midfielder left the Limpopo side in search of more playing time as he fell down the pecking order at Sekhukhune under then-head coach Lehlohonolo Seema, who has since been replaced by Eric Tinkler at the helm.

In a groundbreaking move, the USA second division team broke the bank to lure Webber away from the Betway Premiership club, making him the most valuable player in the USL Championship and the club’s history with a valuation of €1 million (R21.4 million) as reported by the club.

Before his switch to the United States of America (USA), the 27-year-old lifted the MTN8 title with the now-defunct SuperSport United in the 2019/20 campaign and notably scored a stunner in the first leg of the CHAN qualifiers against Egypt this year in March.

Meanwhile, with the recent win, Tulsa is currently in second place on the Western USL Championship standings, having accumulated 25 points in 14 league outings and two games in hand over log leaders San Antonio FC, who amassed 27 points.

The Oklahoma-based outfit is currently on a five-game unbeaten run with three wins and two draws in all competitions. Webber will be keen to continue impressing when Tulsa takes on Monterey Bay FC in a league clash on Thursday, 17 July.
