Pirates And Stellenbosch Stars Nominated For MTN8 Award

Orlando Pirates duo Deon Hotto and Relebohile Mofokeng, along with Stellenbosch defender Fawaaz Basadien, have been nominated for the prestigious MTN8 Last Man Standing award.

All three players played significant roles in the MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium, where Pirates ultimately emerged victorious with a 3-1 win.

Mofokeng was among the goal-scorers for Pirates in the final, alongside Monnapule Saleng and Tshegofatso Mabasa, as the Buccaneers secured their record third MTN8 trophy, all claimed at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Mofokeng scored twice in his four MTN8 appearances, including a crucial goal in the away semi-final draw against Cape Town City.

Hotto found the net in the second leg against Cape Town City at Orlando Stadium, contributing to Pirates’ 3-1 aggregate win. He featured in all of Pirates’ MTN8 matches, accumulating 390 minutes, which included extra time in the quarter-final clash against SuperSport United.

Basadien was a standout performer for Stellenbosch, playing in all their MTN8 matches and scoring two goals. His goals came against TS Galaxy in the quarter-finals and from a penalty against Mamelodi Sundowns in the first-leg semi-final at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The PSL is revealing the nominees’ awards on Tuesday.
