PSL DRC Hearing For Velebhayi, Spurs And Chiefs Postponed

Sportswire has learned that the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) hearing involving Asanele Velebhayi and Cape Town Spurs has been postponed.
All parties involved are now scheduled to present their case on Monday, 4 August.
Sportswire previously reported that Velebhayi, along with Luke Baartman, initiated the DRC proceedings.
They seek to leave Cape Town Spurs as free agents, arguing that since Spurs are no longer in the top two tiers of the NSL—the Betway Premiership and the Motsepe Foundation Championship—their contracts should be void.
Spurs were relegated to the ABC Motsepe Regional League at the end of last season from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, which, based on NSL rules, could deem their players as free agents.
Chiefs then seized the opportunity to acquire Velebhayi and Baartman. However, Spurs are contesting their departure as free agents, asserting they are still entitled to a transfer fee despite now being an amateur club.
Spurs claim the transfer fee for Velebhayi, who was named their club captain at the start of last season, is R10 million, and he should only join Chiefs once this fee has been paid.
Sportswire understands that both sides have submitted extensive evidence to the DRC, including contracts, emails, letters, and legal arguments.
The DRC panel now faces a complex task, meticulously reviewing every piece of evidence and rule to ensure their final decision is thorough, fair, and well-reasoned for all parties involved.
