Ribeiro On Sweeping All Major PSL Awards

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lucas Ribeiro has expressed his satisfaction after dominating the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League awards on Tuesday.

The Brazilian-born star collected an impressive four accolades, making him the only Sundowns player to receive an individual award for the past season.

Ribeiro secured the Betway Premiership Top Goal Scorer, Betway Premiership Goal of the Season, Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, and the most coveted Footballer of the Season award.

Riberio acknowledged that the previous campaign was challenging, but excited that he accumulated most of the awards.

“It was not an easy season because we played too many games, but I’m very happy with myself for taking too many individual trophies,” said Riberio.

Furthermore, the number 10 extended his gratitude to his teammates, the club, and the coaching staff for their unwavering support.

“But I don’t play alone, the players help me, my teammates and the club Mamelodi Sundowns, the support thank you. Thank you to the coach because the guy put my level very, very high as a player, so I’m very happy,” Riberio stated.

The 26-year-old, whose performances also garnered significant attention during the FIFA Club World Cup, emphasized that every award holds equal importance to him.

“Everything, because everything is important to me. So everything is important to me because this season was crazy,” said Ribeiro, who is the fifth player to win the Footballer of the Season award for Sundowns in the last five seasons, following Thembinkosi Lorch’s win with Orlando Pirates in the 2018/19 season.
