Stellenbosch Loans Defender To Durban City
Stellenbosch has confirmed that defender Kyle Jurgens has joined newly promoted Durban City on a season-long loan with an option for a permanent transfer.
Durban City, who secured promotion to the Betway Premiership by winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season, are strengthening their squad ahead of the new campaign. They’ve also appointed veteran coach Gavin Hunt to lead the team.
Stellenbosch FC released a statement about the move: “Stellenbosch Football Club can confirm that Kyle Jurgens has joined Durban City on loan for the duration of the 2025-26 season, with the option of a permanent transfer,” the club said. “Jurgens’ move forms part of the club’s ongoing commitment to supporting player development, and it is hoped that he will gain additional game time and experience in KwaZulu-Natal.”
The 21-year-old, a graduate of the Stellenbosch FC DStv Diski Challenge program, made his senior debut in February 2023. He has since played 51 matches across all competitions.
The club concluded by wishing him well: “He carries the club’s best wishes into this new chapter of his career, and we remain committed to supporting his progress from afar.”
Jurgens joins other recent signings at Durban City, including Brooklyn Poggenpoel, Darren Keet, Trevor Mokwena, Frederic Asare, and Haashim Domingo.
