Ouaddou Acknowledges Fan Expectations After Back-To-Back Losses

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou understands the frustration of the fans after the team’s loss to Marumo Gallants on Tuesday.

This was the Buccaneers’ second consecutive loss in the Betway Premiership, following a 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United at home on Saturday.

“When you come into such a big institution that is playing for titles and competitions, of course, there’s a lot of expectations, and the fans want more,” Ouaddou said.

“We understand when a club loses two games in a row, it’s normal that they are not happy, and we as well, we’re not happy.”

Despite the losses, Ouaddou remains optimistic about his team’s potential, citing the quality and interest of the players.

“But I think we have some interesting players to be honest, and we also have quality players,” he said.

“But when you have so many players arriving, of course, you need time to prepare the players to adapt to the game model and also to the philosophy.

“But in a club like Pirates, we don’t have time, and we need the results quickly.”

The Buccaneers are currently sitting in 14th position in the league table, having yet to secure a single point this season.

However, they do have a win under their belt, having triumphed in the quarterfinal of the MTN8 earlier this month.

The Moroccan mentor made several changes to his team that started against Sekhukhune United, but unfortunately, it didn’t yield the desired results against Gallants.

The Buccaneers will now focus on their semifinal match against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 on Saturday at Orlando Stadium.

After this game, they will face another tough opponent in Stellenbosch in the league, where they will be looking to secure their first league win.
