Ngcobo Confident Ahead Of Sundowns Clash

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is confident that his team can continue their good form when they face Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

Amakhosi have started the season on a high note, winning all their first three games and sitting in second position with nine points.

Sundowns, on the other hand, have won two games and played one draw, earning seven points and placing them fourth in the table.

The two rivals have a history of intense matches, and Ngcobo is drawing inspiration from their last encounter, where they beat Sundowns 2-1 in the semifinal of the Nedbank Cup last season.

“I think with the previous games we played against them, we’ve shown Sundowns that we can outplay them and also beat them,” Ngcobo said.

“So, I think the game plan went well in our last game against them. I think we just have to continue with the game plan, and we know that Sundowns is a team that likes to have the ball – we need to defend well and use our chances efficiently when getting them.”

Amakhosi will have their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, back for the match against Sundowns. Nabi missed the first three games of the season due to a family emergency in Tunisia, where his wife was involved in a car accident.

Ngcobo welcomed Nabi’s return, saying that the team is happy to have him back.

“I think firstly, we are happy as a team to have our coach back and he’s really doing well,” he added.

“It’s great to have our coach back, so we’re looking forward to the game, and I think it’s still the same team that we saw in the last games.”

Ngcobo believes that the technical team has worked well together in Nabi’s absence, and there has been no significant difference in the team’s performance.

“The technical team worked together, and there was not too much difference in the team since coach Nabi was not available. He is back, so the only thing we need to do as a team is to keep going.”

With Nabi back at the helm, Amakhosi will be looking to make it a winning start against Sundowns and continue their good form in the league.
