Chislet Suffer Another Setback, But Back To Chiefs Training

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has confirmed that Ethan Chislett suffered another injury setback two weeks ago, but he is now back in full training with the rest of the team as he bids to make his debut for the club.
Chislett, the son of former Manning Rangers player Donovan Chislett, has yet to play a single match for Amakhosi since joining the club in the off-season.
Questions have been raised about why Chislett, who was born in England and signed from Port Vale, has not featured for the Soweto giants. The same applies to Nkanyiso Shinga, whom fans only saw in action during a friendly against Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko in the Toyota Cup at Moses Mabhida Stadium in July, after his move from Portuguese side FC Alverca.
Shinga, a Durban-born defender, like Chislett, has not made a competitive appearance for the club either.
“I don’t want to go into every player’s details, but Ethan Chislett was injured two weeks ago,” said Kaze.
“He was out for two weeks and only started training with us again 10 days ago. We are building him up for the upcoming matches because his injury issues were tricky. But he has now been training with the team for more than a week.
“We hope he will be physically ready in the next few days.”
Kaze was speaking ahead of Chiefs’ CAF Confederation Cup second-stage match against Egyptian side Zamalek at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Amakhosi began their group-stage campaign with a defeat to another Egyptian club, Al Masry, last weekend.
Meanwhile, Kaze — who is co-coaching Amakhosi alongside Tunisian tactician Khalil Ben Youssef following the departure of Nasreddine Nabi — provided both positive and negative updates on the injury front.
“As you can see, for example, Khanyisa Mayo is available for selection after spending a few weeks on the sidelines,” said Kaze on Friday.
“Gaston Sirino is also back from suspension.
“But there are players like Rushin Dortley and Fiacre Ntwari who are out for this game. Glody Lilepo and Aden McCarthy have also not recovered from their injuries. The rest of the players are available for selection.”
Chiefs are under pressure to win the match after Zamalek, who defeated them last weekend, followed up with another victory on Friday — this time against ZESCO United — to move to the top of Group D.
