Ndamane: Sundowns Defender On Trophy Ambitions And European Dreams

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Khulumani Ndamane has outlined his ambitions of winning trophies with the club and eventually securing a move abroad, as he continues his rapid rise in South African football.

The 22-year-old centre-back, who joined the Brazilians during the January transfer window from TS Galaxy, has quickly adapted to life at one of the country’s most dominant teams.

Although he was signed at the start of the season, Ndamane spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Galaxy, where his performances earned him recognition both domestically and internationally.

His impressive displays also secured him a place in the Bafana Bafana setup, where he has continued to develop on the international stage.

The young defender was part of the squad that represented South Africa at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco, further underlining his emergence as one of the country’s most promising defenders.

Speaking on Sundowns’ Pitchside Podcast, Ndamane made it clear that his main objective is to achieve success with the club.

“What I really want to achieve here at Sundowns is to collect trophies,” he said.

“I think that is what will truly make me happy as a player. I also want to see myself going overseas, and that could make me even happier.”

The Bafana Bafana defender also reflected on how his move to Sundowns came about, admitting that the opportunity initially felt unreal given the speed of his progress.

“When I got this deal, I didn’t believe it. My career is moving so fast,” he added.

“I was surprised, but it means a lot to me as a player. The first person I called was my mother, and she was also surprised because we have come from far.

“For me, the focus now is to keep working hard, and I believe everything else will fall into place.”

Ndamane remains focused ahead of Sundowns’ Betway Premiership clash against Chippa United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday evening, where he will look to take another step toward achieving his goals.
