“I Hope It’s Not Bad For The Boks” – Dobson Fearful As Reinach Joins Injury List

Stormers may have beaten Glasgow Warriors with an emphatic bonus-point victory, but the spoils of war did not come without casualties.
With news that lock JD Schickerling will be sidelined long term, the sight of Cobus Reinach wearing a knee brace was a sobering blow for the newly crowned URC log leaders.
The World Cup-winning Springbok scrum-half has been enjoying some of the best form of his career at the age of 36, and he was at his scintillating best on Saturday, driving the high-tempo performance that swept Glasgow aside.
Forced off just before the hour mark when his leg became trapped in a ruck, Reinach was able to walk off the pitch. However, concerns over the injury cast a shadow over an otherwise impressive performance and result.
Asked whether Reinach will travel with the squad to Ireland, director of rugby John Dobson said, “I don’t think so.”
“He is in a brace but hasn’t been scanned. I don’t see him coming back soon,” said a pensive Dobson.
“I just hope it’s not serious for the Springboks.
“It will put us under a bit of pressure. I thought Cobus played his best game in a while today [on Saturday]. He is pretty upset in the change room.”
When asked about the nature of the injury, Dobson offered a grim outlook:
“It’s a knee injury—it’s a ligament. I think medial. We are hoping it’s medial because that is less severe than an ACL.”
With Reinach set for another spell on the sidelines, having only recently recovered from a hernia operation, the Stormers will have to rely on Stefan Ungerer and Imad Khan to fill the void when they travel to face Ulster Rugby and Cardiff Rugby in two tough away fixtures to close out the URC regular season.
