“Beyond What Many Expected!” — Kadodia On Fairytale Return And Continental Ticket

Durban City chairman Farook Kadodia has reflected on the club’s outstanding 2025/26 season, describing it as one of the most memorable campaigns in the club’s history following their return to top-flight football.
After earning promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Durban City enjoyed a remarkable season in the Premier Soccer League, exceeding expectations and establishing themselves among the country’s top teams.
The highlight of the campaign was their Nedbank Cup triumph, which secured the club’s first major piece of silverware since returning to the elite division. In addition, City finished inside the top eight, earning a place in next season’s MTN8 tournament.
The Durban-based outfit will also represent South Africa on the continental stage after qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup, where they will compete against some of Africa’s biggest clubs.
Reflecting on the club’s achievements, Kadodia hailed the season as a truly remarkable one that will forever be remembered in Durban City’s history books.
“As we bring the 2025/26 season to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on what has been a truly historic and memorable campaign for Durban City Football Club,” Kadodia said in a statement.
“At the beginning of the season, our objective was clear: to establish ourselves once again in the Premiership, compete with pride, and continue building a club that our supporters and the people of KwaZulu-Natal could be proud of. Together, we achieved far more than many expected.
“In our first season back in the top flight, we secured a top-eight finish and, most remarkably, lifted the Nedbank Cup, bringing major silverware to Durban City Football Club. This achievement will forever remain a special chapter in the history of our club and is a testament to the commitment and hard work shown by our players, technical team, management and staff throughout the season.”
