Magesi Defender Set For Marumo Gallants Transfer

Sportswire has been reliably informed that steely defender Lehlogonolo Mokone is closing in on a move to Marumo Gallants from Magesi FC.

The 31-year-old center-back has featured in two of Magesi’s three PSL Promotion/Relegation Play-off fixtures so far, notably missing Wednesday’s hard-fought 1-1 stalemate against Cape Town City.

Mokone is expected to pull on the Magesi jersey one final time when they clash with Milford FC in a decisive, do-or-die play-off finale at the Seshego Stadium on Saturday.

Currently sitting second in the mini-league table with four points from three matches, Magesi trail leaders Milford by two points. Allan Freese’s men must secure an outright victory against the Stallions to retain their coveted Betway Premiership status.

Saturday’s high-stakes showdown represents a final swansong for Mokone should he play before he links up next season with a Marumo Gallants side that recently finished 14th in the top flight.

The rock-solid defender has been a loyal servant to Magesi since their grueling days in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, playing a pivotal role in their historic automatic promotion to the PSL top flight during the 2023/24 campaign.

The following 2024/25 season brought even greater heights, when Mokone famously marshaled the backline alongside Limbikani Mzava to secure the Carling Knockout Cup, engineering a stunning come-from-behind victory over powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns at the Toyota Stadium.

In total, Mokone has clocked up 53 appearances for the club, contributing an impressive five goals and one assist—an outstanding return for a modern, defensive enforcer.
