“Now It Is An Emergency”: Ouaddou Calls Out Chaine And Sibisi In Fiery Post-Match Rant
Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has acknowledged that the season is still long but believes some of his players need to raise their performances following their 1-1 draw against AmaZulu in the Betway Premiership at Kings Park Stadium on Wednesday.
It was Pirates’ second league game of the season as defending champions, with the Buccaneers dropping two points to move to four points and remain second on the table.
While it is not a bad start, it is certainly not the ideal beginning for Pirates, with similarities to last season, when the Buccaneers also lost their opening two league matches before going on to win the title.
Despite dropping points against Usuthu, Ouaddou remains convinced that there is still a long way to go in the campaign.
However, he also issued a warning to some of his players, specifically calling on Sipho Chaine and Nkosinathi Sibisi to improve their performances.
“I will tell you we deserve more,” said Ouaddou.
“Especially if we look at the chances we created in the second half because I don’t want to speak about the first half; it was really a disaster. So, considering the second half, where we showed more interest in the final third, had more forward play and combinations, we deserved to win this game.
“But to be honest, I don’t think too many teams are coming here to win. I told you in the beginning that AmaZulu are really a strong team; I think they did well. They have some good players in transition. I think the coach is a very good coach. I told you he is one of the best coaches in the PSL. I really like him, I appreciate him, and he is very humble.”
“If we have to talk about us, it’s okay; the season is long, but we need to wake up. Some players need to wake up quickly. I have to give credit to Sibisi and Chaine; of course, they went to the World Cup and they are playing every game, but they are the ones who need to wake up because I don’t have time.
“They really need to wake up because now it is an emergency.”
