Allende Drops Major Hint On Sundowns Future
Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Marcelo Allende has revealed that he is fully focused on what he believes will be his final season with the club, insisting that he is not currently considering other options.
Allende arrived at Chloorkop in July 2022 from Uruguayan side Montevideo City Torque for a reported fee of around R51 million ($3 million), making him one of the most expensive transfers in South African football history
Allende initially signed a three-year contract with an option to extend, which Sundowns exercised for a further two years, keeping him at the club until June 2027.
Since joining Sundowns, Allende has made 177 appearances across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 16 assists.
He has won three league titles, the African Football League, and the CAF Champions League, which came last season.
With his long-term future still undecided, Allende says his priority is to make the most of what he believes is his final season with the Brazilians and remain fully focused on helping the team achieve its objectives.
“I’m focused on my last year here at the club,” said Allende during a press conference at Chloorkop on Monday, ahead of Sundowns’ clash against Marumo Gallants on Wednesday.
“I haven’t spoken to anyone. As I have said, I’m really focused from every aspect. I need to play, and I will always give 100%. If not, I will also support my teammates because I think that is the most important thing at Sundowns – that we bring good things to the club.”
