AmaZulu Break The Ice, Clinch First Win of the Season

AmaZulu finally secured their first points of the Betway Premiership season, defeating third-placed Chippa United 2-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday.

This crucial victory provided much-needed relief for co-coaches Vusi Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane.

Usuthu started the match strongly, with goals from Hendrick Ekstein (26′) and Celimpilo Ngema (35′) putting them in a comfortable lead. Chippa struggled to cope with AmaZulu’s dominance and was unable to mount a significant challenge.

Although AmaZulu had opportunities to extend their lead in the second half, they were wasteful in front of goal. However, the early goals were enough to secure the victory.

The upcoming FIFA break could provide a valuable opportunity for AmaZulu to rest and regroup before their next match against Richards Bay. The heated exchange between Chippa United coach Kwanele Kopo and the officials, which resulted in a red card for AmaZulu’s Abbubaker Mobara, added some drama to the match.

With this win, AmaZulu have climbed off the bottom of the Betway Premiership table, moving up to 15th place with three points. TS Galaxy have dropped to the bottom position after their loss to Orlando Pirates.
