Pirates Extend Perfect Start To The Season

Orlando Pirates maintained their perfect start to the 2024/25 DStv Premiership season, defeating TS Galaxy 2-0 at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday night.
Goals from Thalente Mbatha and Relebohile Mofokeng secured the three points for the Soweto giants, who now sit six points clear at the top of the table.
Pirates coach José Riveiro made two changes to the starting lineup, with Thabiso Monyane and Kabelo Dlamini replacing the injured Deano Van Rooyen and Patrick Maswanganyi, respectively.
Mbatha opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a deflected shot from outside the box. The young midfielder doubled his goal tally for the season after his previous strike against Royal AM.
Relebohile Mofokeng’s stunning long-range effort in the 72nd minute sealed the victory for Pirates. The 20-year-old winger showcased his talent with a well-placed shot into the top corner.
The win extends Pirates’ unbeaten run to six matches, with a perfect record of six wins from six games. They will look to maintain their momentum as the season progresses.
