Ramovic Criticises PSL For Galaxy’s Schedule Amid Struggles

TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic has expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s fixtures, arguing that their dismal start to the season is due to the number of away matches they’ve played so far compared to other teams.
The Rockets suffered their fourth league defeat of the new season and are languishing at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table following a 2-0 loss to log leaders Orlando Pirates in their first home match of the new season on Tuesday night.
The Mpumalanga-based outfit is yet to register a win this campaign and has one point with two goals scored and seven conceded – failing to keep a clean sheet in each of their five matches played in the 2024/25 term up to date.
However, the Serbian mentor believes that the schedule is working against his side, having played their opening four encounters on the road before hosting the Buccaneers, and insists they’re not struggling.
“No, I don’t agree with you [that we’re struggling], we are playing seven away games out of eight, which team has this [type of fixture]? Which team in our league plays seven out of eight games away? Which one?” Ramovic said.
The Galaxy coach, who led the club to a record sixth-place finish last season, went on to highlight their shortcomings in away encounters last campaign, noting that his charges often struggle when playing away from home. “And we were not so good also last season in our away games, we only collected two wins and three draws in away games last season but it’s not easy, ” said the 45-year-old tactician who recently oversaw his 100th game in charge of the Rockets.
While the Tim Sukazi-owned side has had a poor start to the season, Ramovic is adamant that they can turn things around, though he admits he has a different team at his disposal now after selling their key players in the off-season. “And then you sell half of your team, you have to rebuild again, so it’s not the same Galaxy that you saw last season, ” he said.
“If you take every point out that we sold half of our team, that we have to rebuild the team again, it’s not the same team that it was, it’s another team, but we will get to the stage where we start to collect points.”
Galaxy were unable to thwart off interest in Fiacre Ntwari from Kaizer Chiefs, while Lehlohonolo Mojela was lured away by Stellenbosch FC, with Pogiso Sanoka joining SuperSport United as veterans Vuyo Mere and Bernard Parker retired and are now in charge of the club’s DDC side.
Meanwhile, they beefed up their squad with seasoned professionals in Victor Letsoalo to replace Samir Nurkovic who amicably parted ways with the club, Siphesihle Maduna, Thamsanqa Masiya, and Nhlanhla Mgaga all on free transfers amongst others.
Ramovic’s troops will continue their quest to avoid relegation with a trip to Stellies in their next outing, followed by back-to-back away clashes against Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City respectively.
