Riveiro Shuns Mofokeng Praise, Focuses on Team Effort

Orlando Pirates head coach, José Riveiro, was reluctant to single out Relebohile Mofokeng for his impressive performance in their 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday.
While Mofokeng’s goal was a standout moment, Riveiro emphasized the collective effort of the entire team.
The Buccaneers have extended their lead at the top of the league table to 18 points, a significant advantage over seven-time defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns who are on 12.
The team’s strong start, equaling their best-ever start to a PSL season, has fueled speculation about a potential title challenge.
However, Sundowns can cut the lead to three if they beat Cape Town City at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday.
“He’s contributing a lot, to the collective like many of our players,” said Riveiro.
“We have talent in every line in every position and it is nice to see them playing together and interacting and it is luxury for them as a coach to have this kind of arsenal, this amount of quality in the squad.
“Look at the names tonight, probably we are missing some of our regulars’ players but the one who are coming to the field they are getting the countability, they want to show that they are here for the team, for the club, we are coming with the objective that we are looking for.
“But we came here with the intention to go back home with the three points and that was the most important thing in this current marathon of fixtures, games, trainings and everything.
“So, so far so good.”
As Pirates continue their pursuit of their first league title since 2012, they face a relentless schedule. Their next match is against Richards Bay at Orlando Stadium on 5 November. They have met recently in Durban in the first round where Pirates edged the KwaZulu-Natal side 1-0 in September through a sublime free kick by Kabelo Dlamini.
