AmaZulu Complete Their Third Signing

AmaZulu has completed the signing of Cape Town Spurs midfielder Liam Bern, Sportswire has learned.
Bern arrived in Durban late on Tuesday to finalize his medical assessment and sign his new contract with the club.
Following Spurs’ relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Bern became a highly sought-after player, attracting interest from three PSL clubs and even one of Europe’s top ten leagues.
However, AmaZulu ultimately won the race for his signature.
The 22-year-old midfielder is renowned for his exceptional left foot, a talent that earned him a spot in the Bafana Bafana COSAFA Cup squad last year in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
This past season, despite Spurs’ drop to the third division from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Bern was a consistent starter, featuring in 30 matches across all competitions under former Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp.
Bern was promoted by the Urban Warriors in the 2021/22 season and has since played in 80 matches across all competitions, though he is yet to score.
He now becomes Usuthu’s third confirmed signing of the transfer window. He joins Keagile Malepe, who arrived from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies, and Keagan Allan, signed from Richards Bay.
In addition to their player acquisitions, AmaZulu recently appointed Simo Dladla as the club’s assistant coach.
With 19 players released at the end of last season, Usuthu is clearly committed to strengthening their squad after finishing in the top eight for the first time in two seasons.
