AmaZulu Secure Motshwari On Permanent Deal

AmaZulu have secured the services of midfielder Ben Motshwari for next season.

Motshwari joined Usuthu on loan from Orlando Pirates after thhis past season had started, with a purchase option at the end. Having played 23 games in all competitions, he has triggered that clause.

AmaZulu benefit further as Motshwari’s contract with Pirates expires this month, making him a free transfer. Pirates deemed him surplus to requirements, while AmaZulu sought a replacement for Makhehlene Makhaula, who departed for Pirates mid-season of the 2022/23 campaign.

The 33-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having been a league winner with Bidvest Wits in the 2016/17 season under Gavin Hunt. He also won the MTN8 that year and added the Telkom Knockout (now Carling Knockout) the following season before leaving Wits. At Pirates, he collected two more MTN8 titles and a Nedbank Cup win.

Since his debut in the 2014/15 season, Motshwari has amassed 241 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals, all in league matches.
