AmaZulu Snare Their First Signing

AmaZulu FC appear to have secured their first signing for the upcoming season, snapping up striker Senzo Ndlovu.

Ndlovu was the top goal scorer in the Khabba Cup tournament that was played on Saturday and Sunday.

A photo of the player alongside AmaZulu director of football Pedro Dias circulated widely on social media. Dias was present during the Khabba Cup where Two For Joy FC, Ndlovu’s team for the tournament, emerged victorious against Star Pirates in the final at King Zwelithini Stadium.

Sources suggest Ndlovu has signed a three-year deal with the Durban-based club. It’s important to clarify that Two For Joy was a team specifically formed for this off-season tournament, not Ndlovu’s regular club. He currently plays for Sinenkani in the ABC Motsepe League, where he impressively scored 23 goals.

The Khabba Cup, sponsored by Joma Sports, has proven to be a valuable scouting ground for several clubs. Similar to Ndlovu, Yanela Mbuthuma (2022 Player of the Tournament) was signed by Richards Bay, while Orlando Pirates secured Cebo Mchunu (2023 Player of the Tournament) and Samkelo Maseko. JDR Stars also bolstered their squad by signing four players who impressed in the tournament: Samkelo Fumaniso, Siphamandla Gwele, and Athini Moqokolo.

AmaZulu, determined to improve after a disappointing 11th-place finish in the DStv Premiership last season, are actively strengthening their squad. This poor performance put coach Pablo Franco Martin under significant pressure. In response, Usuthu has parted ways with their previous top scorer, Augustine Kwem, along with Veluyeke Zulu and George Maluleka.
