Arrows Loan Out Huge Prospect To Hungry Lions

Lamontville Golden Arrows have loaned young attacker Samkelo Mlaba to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Hungry Lions for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old, who has yet to make a senior appearance for Arrows, will gain valuable game time with the Kimberly-based club. Arrows view Mlaba as a promising talent, particularly as captain of their DStv Diski Challenge side.

Given the club’s depth in attacking positions, opportunities for Mlaba in the first team have been limited. This loan move will provide him with crucial playing experience.

Arrows and Hungry Lions have established a positive relationship in recent times. The Durban-based club previously signed players like Olwethu Ncube and Angelo van Rooi from Hungry Lions at the start of the previous season.

Mlaba departs Arrows while they are enjoying a good campaign, currently occupying fifth position in the Betway Premiership with 18 points from 12 matches. Hungry Lions, meanwhile, are 10th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship table with 19 points after 15 games.

Mlaba’s debut for Hungry Lions could potentially come against Baroka FC at the Global Stadium on Sunday at 15:30, pending the completion of all necessary formalities.
