Rayners Thrilled On His Player Of The Month Award

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners has reacted to being named the Betway Premiership November/December Player of the Month award, saying it is nice to be recognized.
The Sundowns talisman played five games and scored three goals for the Brazilians in November/December, and that’s why he is voted as the player of the month.
Rayners’ coach Miguel Cardoso also won the Coach of the Month award. Speaking to the club’s media department, Rayners revealed that he is happy about this award and his team helped him a lot. “For me, it’s always good to win individual awards,” Rayners said. “But it’s not about me alone, but it’s about the team effort. The team is helping me and I’m happy for this award.”
Meanwhile, Rayners added that November/December was good months for Sundowns even though they traveled a lot. “November and December were good months, it’s just we traveled a lot and we played a lot of games. So, I was always keeping focused, I was happy, I was in a good space and the team was happy.
“It was a good feeling for us, but it’s just traveling that made us tired but we pushed a lot. Playing three away games in December was good even though we traveled a lot.”
The Tshwane giant will host Moroccan giant AS FAR on Sunday in the last group stage match of the CAF Champions League.
The former Stellenbosch attacker concluded that AS FAR will give Sundowns a tough game but the Brazilians will try by all means to win the game.
“They [AS FAR] will come with a lot of confidence, they will fight and they will make it difficult for us but we just have to be patient and be ourselves, that’s what will make us win the game,” the former SuperSport United striker said.
“Since they’ve already qualified, I just think they will sit back because they want to sit on top of the log. But for us to finish on top we need to push ourselves, we need to win the game, score the goals and that is the spirit.”
AS FAR have already made it to the quarterfinal of the Champions League following their draw against their rivals in the Botola Pro 1 Raja Club Athletic on Saturday. Sundowns need a draw or a victory on Sunday to book their spot in the quarterfinal.
